‘Well travelled music saturated in Soul’
Playful Western Australian singer-songwriter Prita delivers a show from finger-picking delicate folk melodies to bluesy ballads, and jazzy tunes with a voice like Norah Jones and Tracy Chapman. Sit back, relax and enjoy the velvety tones…
With a ‘beautiful voice’ and ‘catchy songs’ Prita can charm any crowd. From busking the streets of Soho, NYC to opening Oz concert Perth in front of 5000 people. Prita is at home on stage, whether big or small, she exudes joy and playfulness and sings her melodic heart out.
Her catchy melodies and soulful songwriting has seen Prita play folk festivals from Fairbridge to Port Fairy. With some Jazz vocal training and classical guitar beginnings her style is defined by folk storytelling, jazz scatting, and powerful earthy blues.
After leaving OZ to backpack Europe in 2005, 3 months later Prita found herself in Miami on a private yacht about to set sail for the Bahamas… And so the journey continued from the east coast of America and the Carribean to the Mediterranean shores of southern France, Italy, Malta and Turkey.
Playing every chance she got, from private dinner parties on the yacht to jam sessions in the backstreets of Kusadesi, sunset parties and radio interviews in St Maartin and St Barts, and gigs in Cafes and bars in New York, San Diego and Fort Lauderdale.
Two years later Prita hit the shores of Fremantle unpacked her suitcase of songs and settled in to her hometown. She is now regularly playing gigs at many venues around Perth and Fremantle with plans to record a solo full length album this year.
